Ari Borova wants to venture into politics as a deputy. This was announced by himself on Twitter and the bomb exploded in his hand. “I will run for deputy this year. Today I want to represent you as a citizen, I hope to count on you. Each like, each positive or negative comment, each message you share will be one more step to consolidate our goal together, “said the singer in a video. He did not specify which party would be his nor the entity he would seek to represent, but it was not necessary. The trial came instantly.

Although we should be used to it, these types of applications always bring with them the same regrets. It seems that a celebrity candidacy is the pinnacle of political embarrassment.. As if there were not enough reasons to blush about the political class that we have in this country, because the truth is that: the “real” politicians, those who have dozens of degrees and diplomas to throw to the sky, have not been characterized precisely by do sophisticated politics. What is the problem then with an artist running for public office?

What is fashionable? If it is. It’s new? No, during the last decade it has been more and more normal for celebrities from different fields to be bitten by the mosquito of politics. Singers, actors, former soccer players, dancers. There is everything, yes. doIs there a law that prohibits it? No. A singer, in this case Ari, has as much right as you or me to contend for a deputation, which is what public office is for. Public. And it could be as simple as that, but in politics you always have to complicate even what does not require further explanation.

Political analysts, for example, are often outraged every time this happens. It is already very normal, but it is never a bad time to take into account the teachings they received at Cambridge University. Therefore, the beacons of Mexican democracy usually meet their quota of indignation in their preferred tribune, where they will publish a column of the type: “The rottenness of politics”, “Politics and its trivialization” or some variant for the style.

It is always easier to focus criticism on those “strange agents” who disturb the cordiality of political life. How can it not be pleasant to bask in the ignorance of those who have never read Leviathan by Hobbes and now want to legislate. And, of course, people join that chorus without reflecting that the same censorship that is exercised against a former soccer player could also be applied to any of us. doWhat exceptional, brilliant and enviable results have been provided by deputies who prepare themselves throughout their lives to occupy a seat?

In the case of Borovoy, it has been said, by way of conviction, that not much can be expected from someone who has had so many fights with his OV7 teammates. Behind the scenes, in the personal life of each deputy, will there not be any history that involves discussions and lawsuits of any kind?

Finally, extrapolating fights of this type to his political facet is of no use to predict what his potential performance will be like, because, in case it was necessary to clarify, he is barely at the starting point: he has only announced that he wants to compete. The same and it fails, as has happened to Alfredo Adame and so many more.

The trend will surely continue to be that. So it is better to get used to it and take the bull by the horns. It is time to forget the stops on the wall and accept that all citizens, regardless of trade or profession, have the same right to run for public officebecause it’s not like the tie-and-diploma policy has made us very happy, either.

By the way, one day after announcing his alleged political intentions, he himself clarified that it was all a jokeor rather a promotional strategy for his famous show 90’s Pop Tour. He intentionally got everyone’s attention and accidentally uncovered the hypocrisy with which we judge in Mexico. Because everyone wants perfect politicians, but they continue to vote for the same old ones.
