Arturo VazquezSon of the singer Alberto Vázquez and the actress Isela Vega, he was a recognized musician who had his great moment in the eighties, but his career ended at any moment. In an interview with Gustavo Adolfo Infante the actor revealed the reason why he left music.

Arturo confessed that when he was practicing for his third studio album, he was not very happy with its performance, because while he was recording boleros and pop music, Spanish rock continued to grow. “I was rehearsing the songs by Anibal Pastor for my third album, I said: ‘As I see things, I’m not going to finish this album’, they put me to rehearse very pop songs and I also saw what the Green Dwarfs and Soda StereoI said, ‘don’t do this to me please.’

The actor suggested other songs that his first producer had gotten him, but the label refused to record them due to lack of budget. “There are songs by Marco Flores from Spain, that the producer of my first album had sent me and told me: ‘Come here, we are waiting for you to make the album’, ‘No, it charges very dearly, we can’t, we don’t get the budget’ ”.

Anibal Pastor called the founder of the label IM, Ignacio Morales Perea, to speak with Vázquez about his attitude. “He called him and said: ‘Hey, talk to Arturo, because he’s unbearable, he doesn’t want to rehearse,’ then he says: ‘Nacho is talking to you,’ I pick up the phone and he says: ‘What have you got? What’s wrong? Don’t you like to rehearse? ‘,’ Well, not really, not much ‘ ‘Well, you know what, don’t record it, period, it’s over.’

The owner of the company decided to terminate his contract with the interpreter of Nights of Rock and Sadness. “Anibal tells me: ‘No, the rehearsal is over’ and then I go home and it’s over. I go a year and a half to the bank, without doing Always on sundayWell, I was there two or three times every two months. I lived from the programs there and the project XETU”.

After the singer lost his job, in 1985, Arturo lost his house because of the earthquake, so he had to live with his friend Héctor Rodríguez, who was José José’s guitarist. Two years later he had to decide whether to continue his career or to leave music.

“My mother was in Los Angeles, where she already had connections in Hollywood, because she made several films there and she also had great friends and I spoke to her in 1987 and she told me: ‘What are you going to do?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know. I had two options; I could continue to be stubborn to enter the Mexican rock circle, but I came from Televisa, from Always on sunday, I was strawberry and I was never going to come in, they never invited me and my mother told me: ‘You have a new option, come here, start a new life’ , my sponsor gave me my bus ticket to Tijuana ”.

The singer decided to study acting and returned to Televisa at the end of the nineties to participate in various productions such as: The privilege of loving, The ways of love, The rose of Guadalupe and As the saying goes. He has also participated in films such as Euphoria, Cristiada and Glory.
