The Kings have attended the first gala dinner on Wednesday night no masks since the pandemic began, and it has been in the Royal Palace in Stockholm, located on one of the islands of the Swedish city. Doña Letizia has dressed for the occasion with a spectacular navy blue tulle gown from H&M Concious, which she has spruced up with some of the most spectacular jewels from the royal jeweler. The Queen has put on the most important tiara she has access to, the diadem de lis, which represents the Bourbon dynasty with the aforementioned flower, and that it was put on for the last time in October 2019 during the state trip they made to Japan. But in this case, there is more than one meaning for the jewel, created in 1906 by the Spanish firm Ansorena in platinum and diamonds with hinges forming plant motifs.
Doña Letizia has chosen the fleur de lis tiara, which she premiered in February 2017 on the occasion of the trip to Spain of the president of Argentina and his wife, but which Queen Sofía had previously brought for the first time in 1983 during the first state visit of the Swedish kings to our country. A nod to the mother of King Felipe who has accompanied with other jewelery of historical and family importance, such as chaton earrings or twin bracelets, both part of the jewels of Queen Victoria Eugenia, which the two queens have also worn so many times.
This is the first time that we have seen Doña Letizia dressed in a gala dress and without a mask since 2019, since during the occasion that took place at the Royal Palace of Madrid the previous week together to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and his daughter Laura, the Queen maintained precautions at all times. Only during dinner, when they were sitting down, did he take it off to be able to eat, as the rules in Spain mandate. In Sweden, it is not mandatory to wear this protection to which we are already so accustomed, nor has it been at any time during the pandemic, so no one during the evening has worn it.
The gala dinner has taken place, with about 90 guests among which were King Carlos Gustavo and his wife, Queen Silvia, in addition to Princess Victoria and her husband, Daniel; and Prince Carlos Felipe with his wife, Sofia. All the women of the Swedish Royal Family have also chosen spectacular jewels: the cameo tiara has crowned the head of the Queen, a piece also chosen by her eldest daughter for her wedding in 2010, making it one of the favorites of the Swedes. The heiress has opted for the aquamarine headband in the traditional way kokoshnik, and the Prince’s wife has bet on the one that his in-laws gave him for his wedding.
