These days Glasgow has become the headquarters of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change of 2021 that is going to be held until November 12 and that has the visit of great leaders from all over the world. In the beginning the plan was that Queen Elizabeth II served as host of the meeting, since it is held in British territory, but ddue to his health problems his son and grandson, along with their wives, have been in charge of participating in the event.
William and Kate have joined this Monday morning, November 1, to the tasks of representing the British crown at COP26 after they already did so Carlos and Camilla. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have participated in a meeting held in Alexandra Park in which they met with a group of people who carry out the campaign ‘Scouts PromiseToThePlanet’ whose message is “Live a greener life”, a motto that marries perfectly with the messages ecological and sustainability of the world meeting held in the Scottish city. The dukes discussed with attendees how to take practical steps to help the environment.
Shortly before, Guillermo had written on Twitter: “# COP26 is a historic moment for the future of our planet. I am proud that our finalists of Earthshot Prize they will join me in Glasgow to show the world that there is reason to be optimistic, “wrote the queen’s grandson and ended with an illusion:” I am hopeful about what can be achieved. ”

Just over a year ago, prince william he was launching his most personal project to date. Hand in hand with The Royal Foundation, of which the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are presidents, it organized some prizes baptized with the name of Earthshot Awards to try make the world aware of the importance of caring for the environment.
Just over a month ago, the prince and his wife presided over the first edition of the awards. One of the most talked about things of that evening was the good vibes that prevailed between them; the other, the outfits chosen for the occasion: Guillermo, in a clear ‘eco’ wink, opted for a green velvet blazer. The look was completed with a Perkins neck sweater, black pants and loafers. For her part, Kate ‘recycled’ a design by Alexander McQueen in shades of purple that debuted 10 years ago at a BAFTA gala in Hollywood. To complete the ‘sustainable’ touch, both arrived at the ceremony in an electric car of the Audi brand, leading by example.
In the meeting with the scouts on November 1, the looks were much more relaxed as the occasion required: blue pants, sweater and shirt for the prince, and a similar look for the duchess but in black. Kate, because of the cool northern weather, has wrapped herself up in a padded green vest.
The 15 finalists for the first year of the Earthshot Prize, named in September, will attend a reception hosted by William and his father, Prince Charles, at The Clydeside Distillery. They will be joined by members of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, a project launched earlier this year by the Prince of Wales in an attempt to encourage companies to bet on sustainability in their development.
Carlos, leading the crown
While the Dukes of Cambridge carry out their work, Prince Charles as heir to the crown and the most important member of the royal family at the summit, has done the same as reported by the Instagram account of Clarence House. Carlos had already started his campaign against climate change a few days earlier in Rome where he spoke a few words along that line: “As the future of humanity and nature itself are at stake, surely It is time to put aside our differences and seize this unique opportunity to launch a substantial green recovery by putting the global economy on a safe sustainable path and thus saving our planet, “he explained.
In his speech to the delegates attending COP26 in Glasgow, Prince Charles once again recalled that global warming presents “an existential threat”, even greater than that posed by the covid-19 pandemic. “The scale and scope of the threat we face calls for creating a global solution based on radically transforming our hydrocarbon-based economy to one that is truly renewable and sustainable “, has declared.
