The official explanation for the death of Mexican actor Octavio Ocaña by a shot to the head During a police chase in the state of Mexico, he does not convince his family.
His father, Octavio Pérez, assured that he does not believe in the version of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM), according to which the 22-year-old died after accidentally shooting himself in the head when the weapon he carried in one of his hands was activated.
Mexican authorities determined that Ocaña was carrying a .380 caliber weapon and had two useful cartridges. In addition, inside the vehicle a percussion shell was found that came out of that same weapon. Toxicological analyzes also found that he had used alcohol and marijuana.
“Those are pure liesWe know it and you [la prensa]”, Pérez said to Reforma newspaper, and promised that “this is not going to stay that way.”
“I am going to make justice be done,” he exclaimed on Imagen Televisión.
The Human Rights Commission of the State of Mexico announced on Sunday that it will investigate the case for the alleged human rights violations against Ocaña, the actor who played Benedict in the series Neighbors, produced by Eugenio Derbez and Elías Solorio.
The police chase
The events occurred last Friday in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli when a police van asked Ocaña to stop his vehicle; a persecution then that ended with the actor’s car, who was traveling with two companions, crashed into a wall. The other two people later confirmed that they had drunk alcohol.
According to the State Prosecutor’s Office, Ocaña “took a firearm out of the glove compartment of the truck, which he held in his right hand, while driving with his left and kept fleeing.”
But the actor lost control of his truck and collided with other vehicles that were on the road. “At this time and as a result of the dynamics of this accident, the driver presumably triggered the firearm that he carried in his right hand,” added the Prosecutor’s Office.
The Cuautitlán Izcalli City Council maintained that the police wanted to stop Ocaña’s vehicle after realizing that the young man had a weapon inside.

However, a video broadcast on social networks seems to show the moments after the crash, and Ocaña appears bleeding and still alive without the police appearing to try to help him.
During the young man’s funeral held this Monday in his native Villahermosa, Ocaña’s father denied to the press that his son had weapons in his possession.
