Maria Felix she was characterized as one of the most admired women in Mexican cinema; Whether because of her talent or her beauty, there have always been people who wanted her and offered her the best luxuries. Such was the case of King of Egypt, Farouk, who wanted to give her a very special jewel in exchange for something that the lady he refused to give it.

One of the many times that María Félix visited France, she sought to do something very special for her: she gathered all the jewels i had to be able to acquire one, which was the most luxurious of the firm Cartier.

The actress arrived at the jewelery house located on Rue de la Paix, in Paris, and waited for the manager to attend her to ask her to give her the most special thing they had, so it was at that moment that they had her famous emerald eyed serpent.

When he went to pick her up, he met King Farouk of Egypt, who was waiting to receive a jewel that he had made for one of his partners. According to her, she liked it the moment she saw her and talked to her. At the end of their meeting they agreed to go to dinner a week later at the exclusive restaurant Maxim’s.

The day they met again, the king made a comment about the jewels that Maria was wearing, something that annoyed her a lot, but that served to make him realize how much the actress appreciated her luxuries.

From that dinner they did not see each other again until some time later, when the sovereign invited her to his birthday party in cairo, with everything paid. Although she was already suspicious of Farouk’s intentions, she agreed to go because she knew it was a great opportunity to get to know the city.

The party was quite a spectacle, full of eccentricities and, due to how busy the king was enjoying his birthday, they did not talk much that day, but the next he called Maria to invite her to some ruins.

After a few hours of traveling by plane, they arrived at abu simbel ruins, one of the most important tourist attractions in Egypt.

Felix was fascinated by what she was seeing, as she had always considered herself a fan of ancient constructions. In addition, he knew that he was enjoying a unique experience, since he could take a special tour by going in the company of the king.

The sovereign began to show him some of the antiques made for Nefertari, one of the wives of Ramses II, who had the temple they were visiting built. Faruk told her that the queen had been like her, a lover of jewels.

In the middle of his tour, the king called one of his assistants, who was already carrying a diadem, the most fabulous creation of its kind, according to the protagonist of the rapture. It was Nefertari’s crown.

He asked her to take it as a gift for her, the queen of Mexico. Maria, completely fascinated by the gold, grabbed it and placed it on her head, but after a few seconds she reflected on what it meant to accept it.

The Doña asked her suitor what he was giving her the crown in exchange for and he didn’t beat around the bush: in exchange for a night of love together.

Quickly the actress returned the diadem and let the king know that she I couldn’t buy it with the most expensive luxuries or with anything else, less if he didn’t like it, as was his case, so Faruk’s courtship of Maria ended there.
