Will Smith considered killing his father for beating his mother: “That moment defined who I am.”

American actor, Will Smith, revealed dark passages of his life in the new biographical work that bears his name: Will. Between them, the hard moment that he lived during childhood, when he wanted to end his father’s life for being extremely violent with his mother.

As revealed by the magazine People, in this new biographical material, the Hollywood multi-hit actor narrated some of the most painful secrets of your life; among them, the most traumatic episodes of his childhood.

From the beginning of the work, Smith explained the complicated relationship he had with his father, William Carroll Smith Sr.., and which he maintained with his wife and Will’s mother, Carole Bright, and their three children, while they were growing up in Philadelphia, USA.

“My father was violent, but he was also present in all the games, stagings and recitals. I was an alcoholic, but I was sober at each and every premiere of all my movies. I listened to every record. He visited every studio. The same perfectionism that terrified my family, put food on the table every night of my life”, He wrote in Will.

Later, the actor recalled the terrifying moments he lived due to the violent outbursts of his father, who assaulted his mother while he was watching.

“When I was nine years old, I saw my dad punch my mother on the side of the head; so strong that she collapsed. I saw her spit blood. That moment, in that room, probably more than any other moment in my life, defined who I am, ”he continued.

The actor who gained fame with the 90’s series, The Prince of rap, explained that having witnessed the domestic violence suffered by his mother defined his personal and professional life.

“Between everything I’ve done since – the awards and accolades, the spotlights and the attention, the characters and the laughs – they have had a subtle thread of apologies to my mother for not having done anything that day. For having failed her in that moment, for failing to speak up for her. For being a coward, ”he wrote.

However, it was not an isolated case. During another of his father’s outbursts, the situation escalated to such Smith considered murdering his father and “avenging his mother.”
