Alopecia is a condition in which the body attacks its own hair follicles. “Your body’s natural defenses don’t recognize your hair as one of the good guys, so your immune system attacks it.”, He said Adam friedman, MD, associate professor and chair of dermatology at George Washington University, in a previous interview with Prevention.
